Hey, it’s Shannon (shannonmar) from Twitter. I am 35 and having such horrible issues with my skin. I have had occasional acne my entire life, but it seems to have gotten worse. I’ve been to two dermatologists. Tried several cleansing systems and numerous medications. I have also had my hormones tested and apparently they are fine. The thing is, my hubz and I are trying to have children so there are so many medications I don’t want to put into my body. I drink plenty of water, exercise, and eat very well. I don’t eat any dairy, egg, or wheat. I am incredibly frustrated and feel embarrassed and I’m usually a very outgoing, carefree person. I spend a lot of time researching products for blemish-prone skin and have tried many different ones. Nothing works so far. It’s going on 6-7 months now. Any advice? Products? Special product lines? I’d really appreciate any advice or insight. Thanks, hon. xo

    • Hello Shannon,
First off I want to say thank you for sharing your story and being so honest. It must be so hard and frustrating to try so many things and still be searching for a solution. I think it’s great that you are committed to taking care of yourself and staying away from certain foods like dairy and wheat which can cause some skin reactions. I have always had good skin but over a year ago my skin broke out and I did not know what was happening. I too tried several products, dermatologists and even had my hormones tested (All good as well). I was left feeling like there was no hope. I decided to do some research online and came across Pacific Dermaesthetics http://www.vancouverskin.com (I know you are in the Vancouver area). Check out the article on the blog that I featured called “That Darn Pimple”. I used La Roche-Posay trio treatment Biomedic line. Within the week I started to see a difference, there were tears of joy. As far as your concern about using products that are safe when trying to conceive, I would recommend taking with a doctor or the skin care specialist at the clinic to find out more.
Another recommendation for the Vancouver area is SKN Holistic Rejuvenation Clinic http://www.sknclinic.ca. Not only is the clinic amazing with incredible staff, but they offer many treatments to treat a wide range of skin concerns (Acne being one). They use Osmosis, which is a fantastic line! The cleanser is my favorite.
One more tip that seems to work is washing my skin with honey, check out the article on the blog “Bee in Bloom”
Last but not least a few books that I love that are great for beautiful skin are
~”Must have been something I ate” by Peggy Kotsopoulos
~”The beauty detox solution” by Kimberly Snyder, C.N.

I hope this info helps and would love to hear how everything turns out
