Winterized Beauty

With the New Year here and the cold weather still here, it is even more important to make sure to protect your skin. I always post on the importance of staying hydrated and keeping moisturized. Even though I try to drink as much water as possible, my skin still shows signs of dehydration at times during the winter months so I need to stay on top of my skin care regime. I wanted to bring you some of my absolute favourite things that I have discovered in 2012 that gave my skin that added boost of moisture.

cold-weather-skin

The first thing I want to talk about is treating yourself to a facial. Now it is important to keep up with weekly maintenance at home, but I recommend finding a great spa near you to pamper yourself each month. A lot of spas have specials that make it affordable to go on a regular basis. For those of you that have been following the blog for some time, know that I just adore SKN Holistic Rejuvenation Clinic in Vancouver. From the moment I have been going to them my skin has been in love and just can’t seem to get enough. I swear that my skin acts up sometimes just so I will go in for a treatment. On a recent visit to SKN, I received the “Perk Me Up Peel“.This peel is a great, quick treatment that creates visible change and hydration in the skin. It boosts the skin by removing surface cells with AHA’s and is completed with an infusion of antioxidants.First off they started by cleansing my skin with Osmosis “Cleanse” with 20% lactic acid added to it. Then a 50% lactic acid was applied to my skin and left on for 2-3 minutes to help with cell turnover, decongestion and hydration. After a Rhonda Allison Omega 6 oil was put on my skin, along with a milk mask to pump up the moisture. While the mask and oil sat on my skin, a cold jade roller was glided across my face (this was the best part). To finish off the treatment, I had more Omega 6 oil and a growth factor serum added for healing and rejuvenating. Not only was my skin glowing when I left, but the next morning and days after I had clear, radiant skin~ no more dehydration and congestion. You can check out SKN Shop  for all these lines and many more great products.

Now I have some absolute favourites when it comes to MUST HAVE products that hold a permanent residence in my cupboard. With saying this I want to not only include them in this post but also introduce you to some new contenders I have had cross my path.

Hair~ Now since I cut my hair last February and have a shorter style, I have really started to play around with different products. Recently I have started the journey of becoming a blonde, which means with curly hair as well, I need to find lines that give my hair tons of moisture. Here is a list of some of my favourite products that are keeping my hair in top shape this New Year.

Joico “Smooth Cure” hair care line~ This line gives my hair tons of moisture and helps protect it from the dry winter weather. I love their Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, both contain KeraShield Complex that reduces frizz and leaves my hair manageably soft and smooth. After I like to add Joico’s leave-in rescue treatment. This cream can be used alone on wet hair as a styling aid or it can be applied before blowdrying your hair. When blowdrying my hair I also like to add their thermal styling protectant, these two combined protect my hair against humidity and thermal damage. The whole “Smooth Cure” line from Joico smells great on top off all the goodness it does for your tresses. Another great leave in treatment I found was Biolage Smoothing Shine Milk. This light-weight mist helps control flyaway’s, frizz and gives added shine while leaving my curls bouncy and soft.

The original Mane ‘n Tail hair care line~ It’s funny I originally heard of this line and tried it years ago, but was recently sent some product. This line gave great moisture and strength to my hair. I enjoyed the shampoo, conditioner and hair strengthener. One product that was new to me (and not hair related) was their Hoofmaker hand & nail therapy, it was originally developed for horses to moisturize dry, cracked and brittle hooves. This cream is light-weight and non-greasy. It adds instant moisture to dry hands and left my cuticles nourished.

Moroccan Oil products~ What’s not to love about this line. One product that I recently discovered during a photo shoot was their Luminous hairspray, all I can say is it smells heavenly~ like being on a beach in the Caribbean. It has medium hold but still keeps your hair manageable with a natural look. It’s even easy to brush out if you’re needing to change-up your style. 03739

LUSH~ Awwwwww Good ol LUSH Cosmetics, what can I say ~ How I love thee! As many of you know LUSH holds a special place in my heart. I have discovered so many fabulous products from them that I enjoy sharing them all with you. When it comes to hair, LUSH has been a life saver. I am totally obsessed with their R&B hair moisturizer which I have posted about before. It is one of my go to products that I also use as a styling aid. The Blousey shampoo is a new-found favorite that contains rose oil, blackcurrant absolute, thyme and rosemary. It has fresh smashed organic bananas that provide my hair (especially being blonde) with intense moisture. Next I discovered Happy Happy Joy Joy hair conditioner, which reminds me of Springtime and all the flowers in bloom. With Orange flower absolute, rosewood and grapefruit oils your hair will be dancing a happy tune. Once a week I like to run a bath, apply a hair treatment/mask and relax. There is nothing I enjoy more than hair products that contain peppermint and honey, and Roots hair treatment contains both. I love the way it tingled and left a cooling sensation on my scalp. Honestly my hair had major bounce after this treatment! Last but not least Shine So Bright split end treatment. I love adding this to my hair as a finishing touch after drying. You can use to mend split ends or tame fly-aways as well. It’s a perfect size to slip into you purse and have as a quick fix when your out on the town.baby-lips_pack-shot-crop_Quenched

This past October I attended World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto and had the opportunity to go backstage with Redken and Maybelline to see all the magic created before the shows. I have always been a fan of both brands and during this trip I came across some new products that caught my eye. First off Hair! Again with shorter curly hair, finding a styling cream that doesn’t weigh my hair down is a little tricky. Also one that doesn’t leave it looking greasy is the key too. That’s where Redken Tousle Whip 04 comes in. This cream smells divine and delivers soft texture while providing a good hold. Then when I want to blow out and style my hair I first use Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide, with macadamia oil it adds protection and leaves my hair glossy smooth. After I dry it, I use Redken Iron Shape 11 finishing thermal spray. This heat protective spray locks in curl and straight shapes while adding a touchable, shiny finish. There are many Maybelline products that now fill my makeup bag, one being their new moisturizing lip balm “Baby Lips“. This lip balm provides 8 hours of hydration and I was passed on a beauty trick from Maybelline’s lead Makeup Artist Grace Lee ~ use it to highlight your features. That’s right girls, you can add “Quenched” (shown here) to your cheekbones for contouring. This new balm also comes in scrumptious shades and my new favorite is “Cherry Me”.

brown_ss_angleFace and Body~ When it comes to my skin I love products that smell great, deep clean and keep me well moisturized. I believe in exfoliating your skin each week, always moisturizing and not going to bed with makeup on (though we all have done this a few times I bet). Here are some of my favourites from 2012 that I can’t seem to put down. Even though I love going to the spa, I love even more finding products that I can indulge in right in my own home. During my birthday last year I received La Licious brown sugar & vanilla sugar souffle’ and this is definitely a scrub you need to get your hands on. It exfoliates your skin to perfection and did I mention it’s all natural! It has all my favourite ingredients~ Brown cane sugar, coconut oil, sweet almond oil and honey. It smells so good you will want to eat it. Another great scrub that I was introduced to by the same friend was Jade & Ginseng Sugar Scrub from Jade Spa. With the detoxifying properties of jade and many health benefits of ginseng, your skin will  be exfoliated, renewed, smooth and hydrated. These two have permanent homes beside my tub.

When it comes to shower time and cleansing my skin I tend to mix it up between using scrubs, body washes, milks and my latest craze~shower jelly. LUSH  introduced me to shower jelly’s and I was instantly hooked. A few of my favourites have been Calacas (limited time only)~which smells like green life saver candies, Ghost~which smells like a garden of jasmine and lilies, and my latest obsession Whoosh~ which bursts with a lemon scent and is sure to wake you up. The great thing about these shower jelly’s is they clean your skin so well without stripping the moisture. Another fave from LUSH  is their Rub Rub Rub shower scrub. This sea salt scrub contains a mimosa and orange blossom scent that is sure to awaken your senses. After cleaning your skin you always need to moisturize. It is said the best way is to apply your crams and lotions while you skin is still damp. Sticking with a theme I came across a few beauty finds from LUSH,  Vanilla DEE-Lite body lotion  is vitamin-packed and made with their Vanilla Fountain fragrance and fresh kiwis. Though this lotion is light it still leaves your skin supple. Another great moisturizer for those looking for an organic line is Consonant C ultra moisturizing organic face cream. This cream is formulated with organic botanicals and natural source hydrators making it a perfect fit for the driest winter weather. Last but not least when it comes to cleansing my face I look for a wash that is gentle for sensitive eyes, deep cleans and won’t over-dry my skin. Dermalogica’s Special Cleansing Gel does the job. I love how easy this cleanser washes my face and easily rinses off. Dermalogica products are formulated without artificial fragrances and colours, making them suitable for all skin types.

Wel there you have it, a few of my favorites from 2012 that I’m continuing to love in the New Year. I’d love to hear what your MUST HAVE beauty products are that you just can’t live without.

The 3 B’s with Erin Ireland

erin-ireland-karolina-turekErin Ireland is a food reporter and lover of cuisine who aspires to spend the rest of her life eating all that’s to die for. She is a regular guest on Shaw TV’s The Rush, a Vancouver entertainment talk show. Erin and hosts Fiona Forbes and Michael Eckford discuss to die for food and Vancouver restaurants each month. Aside from running To Die For Fine Foods, her most current project is a video series for The Vancouver Sun featuring local food carts. To Die For Banana Bread is the first product in her line of baked goods under the To Die For Fine Foods brand. You can find it at these 38 locations in Vancouver.

I first met Erin back in 2010 during a charity event for  “Run for the Cure“. We both participated in the event and I also had the pleasure to be interviewed by her. It was also that very day that she introduced myself to the fabulous and one of my all time faves Yves Saint Laurent, their Rouge Pur Couture #49. From the moment I met Erin I was instantly drawn to her energy, ambition, drive, elegance and grace. She is a savvy business woman with a solid head on her shoulders. Erin knows what she wants and she is determined to keep moving in high gear with her eyes set on the prize.

(The above image was taken by Karolina Turek, who also shot the photos of Erin holding her banana bread).

During the course of the past few years, I have had the opportunity to talk with Erin about life, business and what matters most. I have been inspired by our conversations and she has shown me key important tools in keeping on track with it comes to your business. I can’t tell you how much it meant for her to take the time to in a way help mentor me on a few occasions. Sometimes in this big old world things can seem complicated and overwhelming, she showed me how to keep it simple and always stay true to what you believe in. It is for these reasons and so many others that I felt Erin would be a great fit for a Beauty Q&A.

So go grab your favourite “to die for” snack (Erin’s BB recommended) and get cozy as Erin opens up about the 3 B’s~ Beauty, Business and Banana Bread.

BB411~ When did you know you wanted to become a host and be in front of the camera?Screen shot 2012-08-14 at 6.46.33 AM

EI~ It was less about wanting to be in front of the camera and more about wanting to tell stores or share information. I’ve always loved to pass along the good word, share recommendations, and tell stories.

BB411~ What was your earliest memory?

EI~ My parents teaching me how to cook my own scrambled eggs. I had to use a step stool because I couldn’t reach the stove.

BB411~ You’re a food reporter and look for things that are “To Die For”, how did this all come about?

EI~ I’ve always been obsessed with food…and one day I realized I could make my passion my career. So I started my site, started writing columns, and really started to focus. I cut out all other topics of content that I tweeted about, attended events, etc.

BB411~ Why are you so passionate about food?Erin-2

EI~ Oh I cannot explain this! I was born with it. But maybe it has a little something to do with almond croissants, white chocolate, red wine, wagyu steak….

BB411~ Chef’s that inspire you?

EI~ Thomas Haas – he is a perfectionist and keeps an amazing sense of humour while doing. Walk into his shop – the displays of pastries, macarons and chocolate are immaculate. I swear his employees feel like the luckiest people on earth to be working under his roof.

BB411~ If you weren’t a host and you could be anything in the world what would it be?

EI~ News Anchor. I used to work at CTV news but veered off that path towards entertainment and then food. Host actually isn’t my main position at the moment – but I can’t wait to focus on it once I’ve gotten banana bread off the ground.

BB411~Tell us about the best banana bread in the world (yours!)  What inspired you to create this line?

pumpkinbb5

EI~ It all started really naturally. I never ‘worked on the recipe’ or strategized about how to turn this into a business. It was simply a gift I gave to friends and colleagues, and word seemed to spread. Before I knew it I was getting daily requests for the bread. I realized there was a major opportunity knocking at my door. Never in a million years could I have guessed this would become my career path – but I couldn’t be happier now that I’m running my fine foods company.

( Pumpkin Banana Bread ~ Photographer Joann Pai)

BB411~ The one food you could not live without (ok top 3)?

EI~ Oatmeal, Avocado, Olive Oil

BB411~ Where do you see your business going in the next 1, 5 & 10 years?

EI~ One year – distribution to all fine food retailers in Vancouver (choices, whole foods, urban fares, etc), initial research in the TO market being done, the launch of several new to die for products.

erin ireland_edited_2IMG_0364

Five years – full ‘to die for’ product line launched. I’ll be less involved in operations at this point and more focused on high level operations, will be entrenched in broadcasting career at this stage (to die for show).

Ten years – fine foods company running smoothly, national distribution, network tv show in full swing.

BB411~ There is no doubt in my mind that someone who is as strong and determined as yourself will accomplish all this and more. I can’t wait to see this all unfold!

BB411~ Greatest accomplishment to date?

EI~ Obtaining a ‘real life’ business degree over the past 15 months working on my fine foods company. My real degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication (focus Broadcasting), but I have learned so much from my experiences with my fine foods company – much of which I can credit to my partner, who holds a business degree. He is one of my greatest supports.

BB411~ Have you always been in love with fashion and beauty?

EI~ I wouldn’t say that I am. I have no patience for shopping (unfortunately! wish I had it in me) but of course it must be done – and it’s so important because if you look good, you feel good and more confident. Feeling and looking great is empowering and helpful in business. As humans we gravitate towards things that are attractive to us.

BB411~ What is your skin care regime?

EI~ Pretty simply – I use Riversol face wash, serum, moisturizer and eye cream. I’ll always trust a respected dermo above pharmacy lines/beauty lines.

BB411~ 3 beauty products you carry with you always?

EI~ I am a ‘no purse’ kinda girl – so it’s all about what I can fit into my pockets. I don’t often leave the house without my MAC concealer pot (for the light lip look).

BB411~ #1 beauty product you could not live without?

EI~ MAC shimmer – I’ve recently discovered what a little highlighting can do to the face. I love dusting a little above my brows and on my nose. I am super picky with my makeup and have always done it myself until I met Jackie Brown of Envy Me Studio. She is so great!

BB411~ Favorite lip color?erin-ireland-karolina-turek-isolde-semple

EI~ My old long-time fav was YSL #49 but lately all I wear is MAC “Costa Chic” mixed with my concealer – it’s the super light peach look

BB411~ I still remember you introducing myself to this lipstick, I am still in love with it (see post Here)

BB411~ Favorite fragrance?

EI~ Gucci Rush

BB411~ One of my favourites as well

BB411~ Do any certain scents remind you of your childhood?

EI~ My Mom’s perfume – Lancome “Tresor”

BB411~ You have great hair, what do you use as your go to products?

EI~ Thanks! My hairstylist Isolde Semple is full of great tips and she encourages me to spend the money on good quality hair products because I’ll notice the difference. She’s right. I use Redken shampoo and conditioner, Sebastian hair spray. My trick is to not over-wash my hair. It’s always better three days after a wash.

BB411~ How do you stay fit with eating all this fab food?

EI~ I run outdoors or go to the gym 4-5 times a week. This has always been my lifestyle since I grew up playing sports.

BB411~ What does beauty mean to you?

EI~ Beauty is nothing without confidence and class.

BB411~ What inspires you and keeps you balanced?

EI~ My vision of the future – a nice home on the North Shore, two kids, a dog or two and a beautiful kitchen filled with beautiful things from The Cross Design

BB411~ Do you have a best kept beauty secret that has been passed down to you (say from your Mother or Grandmother)?

EI~ Don’t pluck your eyebrows thin – My Mom has always preached this. She is so right – eyebrows do so much for the face. Sometimes I add brown eye shadow to make them more bold.

BB411~ You speak about your Grandma and her love in the kitchen (I remember the note she left before going in the ambulance to the hospital to take care of the bread) how has she influenced you? Tell us a little about her?

EI~ She is 91 and bakes almost daily. She doesn’t waste a single bite of food, she will bake anything for anyone and is always ready to share a recipe. She is just such a good person and I’m lucky to have gotten so close with her. Here’s a post of us baking together . She insisted on using the flowers in the food photos – she’s so artistic.SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

BB411~ Are you involved in any charities, are any close to your heart?

EI~ I’ve worked with the Canadian Cancer Society on their ‘Tanning is Out Campaign‘ and have contributed to Breast Cancer Research Campaigns, but the cause closest to my heart lies in the realm of eating disorders and specifically, extreme dieting. Soon I’ll be touring high schools in Vancouver to speak to young girls and boys about the dangers of extreme dieting. There are so many young girls out there with eating disorders – and I believe there are even more out there who are just on the brink, but ‘not skinny enough’ to attract the attention and help that they need. I’ll share the story of my five-year stint extreme dieting and hope to connect with young girls and offer the support they need.

BB411~ What does it mean to give back?

EI~ Paying it forward. We’ve all been grateful for the actions of someone else at some point in our lives and it’s our duty to pay that forward and do something significant for someone else.

BB411~ Greatest wish still to check off on your bucket list?

EI~ More traveling. My favorite destination is Italy but I really want to get to Japan (sushi and ramen) and Argentina (steak and malbec).

BB411~ If you could tell your younger self something you have learned and know now what would it be?

EI~ Save your money and always reference check.

BB411~ What would you tell someone following their dreams and pursuing their passion (entrepreneurs)?

EI~ Trust your gut and always be yourself – we know deep down when we’re not being ourselves. It doesn’t feel right and there’s a reason for that.

BB411~ Fun facts that your fans may not know about you?

EI~ My favourite way to spend a friday night is watching dateline while eating chocolate and drinking red wine. Also in university my fellow student athletes knew me only as ‘Jeter’ – it was a nickname from my freshman year that stuck

erin-ireland-jesse-kovacs-jacob-kovacs

BB411~ 3 words that best describe you?

EI~ trustworthy, confident, fun-loving

“Wearing your Heart on your Sleeve” with Jillian Harris

What’s not to love about Jillian Harris! We first fell in love with her energy and sweet girl-next-door personality on ABC’s The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. We watched as she opened her heart to the possibility of love. Jillian joined the team of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, where she added warmth to episodes bringing passion for life and 10 years of design experience. Though we had to say good-bye to EMHE, Jillian has been keeping busy from hosting Canada’s Handyman Challenge (which premiered this year on HGTV) to various design projects and appearances. She is dedicated to charities including Big Brothers and most recently helped with disaster relief in her hometown of Slave Lake in Alberta for the Red Cross. Jillian has appeared on various covers for some of the top design publications in the country. Her latest hosting gig is on W Network’s hit show Love It or List It coming to Vancouver.

Jillian’s philosophy of “Design with personality” radiates to every part of her life.  If you have not checked out Jillian’s web site (which I am a Huge fan of), WHAT are you waiting for? Full of delicious recipes, great fashion tips and amazing concepts for at home designs, the whole site radiates with L.O.V.E and inspiration. She brings such great ideas and gives you the courage to think outside the box while still listening to your heart and remembering what really matters to you. She really puts her personal touch and evokes so much emotion is all that she designs. It’s a great read to start you day!

I have had the opportunity to get to know Jillian over the past few years. She really is a sweetheart with a genuine, honest and captivating personality. Jillian believes that “the most beautiful things in the world are the ones that reveal who you truly are”. Family and friends are such an important part of her life; she really lets us get up close and personal by sharing precious moments. Jillian is the(daughter/granddaughter/cousin/)  you would want to have, the devoted best friend to share in life’s entire joy and the person who stands beside you no matter what life throws your way. She sees the best in people and embraces wearing your heart on your sleeve. Recently Jillian posted on finding a new love (his name is Justin) and we could not be happier for her. Anyone that gets to have Jillian a part of their life is lucky and blessed. She really is the real deal!

BB411~When did your love for design start?

JH~When I was super young. I remember my mom taking me to JC penny and picking out my ‘bed in a bag’. When every other 8-year-old was picking up neon & Jem & the hologram’s themed décor, I chose a dainty dusty pink and periwinkle floral set with lace trim. I knew what I loved and liked from a young age and was always changing my room around and begging to paint.

BB411~What is your earliest memory and what did you create?

JH~Haha see above! I also about 6 years later at 14, painted my bathroom periwinkle against my dads wishes after school before they came home from work.  I LOVED it !… the cutting in job, my dad not so much.

BB411~#1 tip you would give someone when revamping a room?

JH~ Completely gut it, clean it … revamp and only bring back into the room what you KNOW you need.  Toss, recycle or store the rest.  Replace light fixture, window coverings and light bulbs.

BB411~Have you always been in love with fashion and beauty?

JH~ YES always!

BB411~What was your earliest memory?

JH~ Above! 🙂  I also  was the highest spender at a Mary Kay party when I was 12. I used my entire savings to buy the WHOLE package from my neighbor.  She had to call my mom and make sure it was ok! Haha!

BB411~ Favorite Designer (clothing & decor)

JH~ Still a sucker for Aritzia, love Wild Fox & Urban Outfitters. Designer would likely still be Kelly Wearslter, but my style is evolving away from hers-becoming more feminine, light and airy.

BB411~ 3 beauty products you carry with you always?

JHCaudalie beauty elixirSoleil Tan De Channel, Urban Decay 24 black eyeliner

BB411~#1 beauty product you could not live without?

JH~ Le Mer & Caudalie beauty elixir

BB411~Favorite color?

JH~ Right now – periwinkle

BB411~Favorite Cleanser and Sunscreen?

JH~ It changes all the time!

BB411~You have great hair, what’s your secret, any favorite products?

JH~ Oh god I have a complex about my hair.  Truth be told I’m getting a few greys so I’m insane about keeping it healthy and I take hair and nail vitamins (usually Genuine Health)  lots of copper & biotin in my diet!  And oh – try to wash my hair only 2-3 times a week!

BB411~You are in amazing shape, how do you keep fit?

JH~ Hahah.  Genetics.  And some balance. I love super foods so naturally I’m drawn to berries, broccoli, kale etc. I don’t work out consistently but if I see my little butt start to sag I commit to the gym for a week!

BB411~What does beauty mean to you?

JH~ Ummm I hate to say it – because I know beauty comes from within – but I’m pretty afraid of age… so I try to pump my body full of super foods, water & stock up on all the potions and lotions.  I wanna be a hot mom.  It is what it is!

BB411~Do you have a best kept beauty secret that have been passed down to you (say from your Mom or Granny)?

BB411~ Hahah Granny would say vodka!   Honestly I don’t know where I got my obsession for beauty tricks! My moms skin is in great shape but I think again, that’s just genetics!

BB411~Fun fact that your fans may not know about you?

JH~ Playing guitar has been on my bucket list for 4 years. WTF! Get on it Jill!

BB411~Love Granny Marg 😉 (Makes me miss mine) What do you love most about her?

JH~ She is just so open-minded, positive and accepting of EVERYONE.  She doesn’t judge and always understands everyone’s perspective.  She just wants people to be happy and that’s it.  I hope I inherited a lot of that.

BB411~If you could tell your younger self something that you know now what would it be?

JH~ To just trust, in people, in life and the whole process.  Don’t try to change anyone or control anything – just be the best person you can be.

BB411~Would you do reality tv again?

JH~ Would I do it all over again yes, would I do it again for a second time?  Right now, probably not 🙂

BB411~What does love mean to you?

JH~Well love is all I really need. I have been SO lucky to be surrounded by it my entire life – because of that I haven’t been desperate to settle down with someone – I have never been lonely or in a rush – just want to find someone who  fits in my heart and makes me happy .  Honestly I am so grateful for my career but Love and my personal and family life ALWAYS comes first.

BB411~ Favorite Quote?

JH~ My fav quote is a Gretzky one – you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take

Mixed Chicks

One thing I have always struggled with is finding a shampoo and conditioner that works well with my curly hair. Now I have tried many different brands that smell great, but they still seem to dry my hair out a bit and leave it tangled (when it was longer especially). Then I came across the brand Mixed Chicks, and to be honest I was a little skeptical as they claim their products are designed for any ethnicities hair type. Well…….. I am a fan! Their products lock moisture into every curl, but it not only works on wavy and tightly curled hair, its great for straight hair too. Mixed Chicks have products for women , men and the kiddies too. I tried the sulfate free shampoo (which I wrote about in a previous post here), leave-in conditioner, hair silk and the paddle hair brush.

Leave-In Conditioner~ This alcohol-free, non-sticky, lightweight product left my hair soft and manageable. I actually used it as a styling aid. I sectioned my hair, twisted and scrunched each curl~ it provided great definition.

Hair Silk~ To be totally honest with you I usually do not use many glosses in my hair. I find they weigh down my locks or leave my hair oily, not to mention that I breakout a little from them. Mixed Chicks Hair Silk is great for adding beautiful shine to my bouncy locks. It also helped with my fly aways and split ends when I straightened my hair. A bonus is you only have to use a small amount of their products for amazing results.

Paddle Brush~ What can I say, I love the thick wood brush! For only $9, it’s a steal of a deal.

Check out Mixed Chicks and jump on board of this multi-racial hair movement today
